In mid-October 2014, my very bright and capable third grader began struggling in math. I reached out to her wonderful teacher, and we have been working as a team to help my daughter. Through that process, I learned that the Texas State Board of Education intentionally created huge learning gaps in the Math TEKS (standards the kids must achieve) over the last two years.
I began advocating for my daughter, other children like her, and their many dedicated teachers. My efforts to support them have taken me to my local State Board of Education member's office, to my State Representative's office and even to Austin.
Many of you have also been educating yourselves and speaking out to help your children. To support you, I will do my best to provide updates and helpful information via this webpage and forum. Together we can make a difference!
