When Mackenzie Howell was five years old, God Called her to help Haiti.
It's that calling that inspired this ministry.
I want kids everywhere to know that they can make a difference for God and that He will give them the courage to do whatever He asks them to do. Whether you are 2 or 92, God can use you right where you are. You don't have to have anything but a willing heart. If there is a ministry that you just cannot forget about, then God is probably calling you! |

About Alison
|
Alison Howell is founder and President of Promised Ministries. In addition to over two decades of experience in non-profit development, Alison also loves to write and speak.
Alison currently works alongside Lifeway Publications as a children's curriculum writer for Explore the Bible, Bible Studies for Life and TeamKids and has been published in Focus on the Family's Clubhouse Magazine and featured on (in)courage, a DaySpring community for women. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Lance. The couple has two children, Mackenzie and Andrew. When Mackenzie was just five years old, she developed a passion to help the country of Haiti recover from the devastating earthquake. Alison and Lance have encouraged Mackenzie in her calling by helping her with many projects to support the country she loves. Alison also loves speaking to children's groups and church groups with Mackenzie and leading mission teams to experience Haiti for themselves. Alison is passionate about inspiring families to share God's love and reach the world for Christ and about encouraging parents to raise a generation to love the Lord, no matter the cost. But this is what she says defines her the most… I am promised to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords who created me and then paid a very high price for me. He is coming back for me. While I am waiting, I want to make every moment count. |
About Mackenzie
|
Mackenzie Howell is currently a student at Lamar University in pursuit of becoming an Elementary Teacher. Mackenzie is passionate about Haiti, teaching, and her love for the Lord. She strives to use her ministry and future classroom to encourage young people that "you are never too young to be used by God."
When Mackenzie was five years old, she saw a children's documentary about the earthquake in Haiti. God touched her heart to help kids who in her words, "lost their moms, their dads, their homes and their schools." To answer God's call on her life, Mackenzie has done many projects to support Bigarade, Haiti, a village established by the International Mission Board for families who lost everything in the 2010 disaster. She began with lemonade stands, bake sales, and a coin drive at her church. Then in 2013 at the age of seven, she wrote her first children's book, called Leila's Big Difference to raise support for the country. In 2015, Mackenzie had the opportunity to visit Haiti for the first time. When she returned she wrote a second book, Leila's New Friend, inspired by events from her first trip. God has used her projects to help to build and furnish two schools in Bigarade. In addition He is using her ministry to help provide ongoing funding for teachers' salaries and a lunch feeding program for the 300 students at the schools. Mackenzie has received dozens of opportunities to speak to children and adults across the country, encouraging them to answer God's call for their lives. Mackenzie loves to spend time with family, run, and watch her fiancé, Brady Corcoran, play baseball. But most of all, Mackenzie loves Jesus and loves sharing God's love with her friends in Haiti and encouraging others to follow God's call in their life. |
